doi:10.11646/phytotaxa.447.3.7 The name honours Alfred Auguste Dalsescantz Dugès (1826–1910), French doctor and zoologist who lived and worked for more than 50 years in the city of Guanajuato and founded a herbarium in the city of Guanajuato, of which the surviving part is to be found in the Alfredo Dugès Museum at the University of Guanajuato.
