Remarks
Castillon's synonymy is not clearly set out and could be interpreted as including Aloe subacutissima Rowley. However, by indicating a holotype for the name of the new species it can be argued that Castillon has implicitly excluded the type of A. subacutissima, and A. newtonii is legitimate.
