Replaced synonym cited as Eupatorium brevipetiolatum Baker ex Hieron., hom. illeg. in Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 22: 781 (1897). Here, however, Hieronymus simply refers to and expands on the original description of this taxon, validly published by Baker in Fl. Bras. 6(2): 335 (1876). Eupatorium hieronymi S.E.Freire is superfluous as its circumscription includes the type of Baker's name, the name that ought to have been taken up.
