Status: nom. inval. Contrary to Art. 36.1.(a) of the ICN (2018).
Remarks
The protologue states: 'Stirps Heuffeliana est igitur aut nova species: V. Heuffelii Neilr. aut melius varietas tomento ciereo-albo V. phlomoidis L.' ['...Heuffeliana is therefore either a new species...or better variety...']. This is contrary to Art. 36.1.(a) of the ICN (2018), which states: 'A name is not validly published when it is not accepted by its author in the original publication, for example (a) that it is merely proposed in anticipation of the future acceptance of the taxon concerned, or of a particular circumscription, position, or rank of the taxon'.
