Remarks
Payson (1927) published C. jamesii as a new name for Myosotis suffruticosa Torr. 1827 (non C. suffruticosa Piper 1919). Under his C. jamesii, Payson treated 5 varieties, e.g., C. jamesii var. cinerea (Greene) Payson (based on Oreocarya cinerea Greene 1896) and var. disticha (Eastw.) Payson (based on O. disticha Eastw. 1903). Payson could have made the new combinations C. cinerea and C. cinerea var. disticha. Thus, C. jamesii var. disticha was incorrect when published.
