Wettstein referred to the description of S. pusilla x S. montana given by V.A. Richter (in Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 11(5): 461. 31 Dec 1889) and validated the name S. richteri, but did not treat as an hybrid. According to Josef Niederle (pers. comm.), richteri was gathered on Pietros in Ukraine and not on Alpe Petrosa in Romania
