Remarks
Eponymy: This species is dedicated to the late Richard S. Cowan (1921–1997), renown legume taxonomist and bibliographer, who dedicated his productive career, first at the New York Botanical Garden (1948–1957), then later (1957–1985) at the US National Herbarium, to pioneering taxonomic revisions of many tropical genera of Caesalpinaceae. doi:10.3100/025.017.0209
