Combination is validly made by indirect reference to the basionym. Gardner states in the Preface, p. ii, that synonyms refer to the name as used by Bentham in Flora Austral. Gardner includes Baeckea polyandra F.Muell. as a synonym, and Bentham, Fl. Austral. 3 (1867) 84 includes Oxymyrrhine gracilis Schauer as a synonym of Baeckea polyandra F.Muell.
