Locality
This fine new species of Catasetum was brought, in 1822, from Bahia de St. Salvador, in Brazil, to the Horticultural Society (in London), by Mr. George Don.

Remarks

Eponymy: We have named the species in compliment to Captain Clavering, the commander of His Majesty's Sloop of war, the Pheasant, in which the Horticultural Society's collector was carried from the coast of Africa to South America
