Britton & Shafer (N. Amer. Trees 600. 6 May 1908) designated G. elliptica as the type, and their designation has been construed as mechanical and rejected (see ICN Art. 10.5). The ING staff (ING card 31769. Aug 1970) cited G. elliptica as the type, and their publication does not have priority over the Webster publication.
