Remarks: Leenhouts (in Blumea 28(2): 285. 2 Feb 1983) cited "Sloane herb. v.97" (BM) as the type. J.G.West (l.c.) rejected Leenhouts's inadvertent typification on the ground that Jacquin could not have seen the Sloane's herbarium specimen. Although D. viscosa and Ptelea viscosa L. (1753) have been treated as conspecific, both have different types. Therefore, D. viscosa was not based on P. viscosa.
