T. M. Barkley inadvertently lectotypified the varietal name with the holotype of S. cymbalarioides Nuttall (1841); the lectotypification renders the varietal name and its associated nomenclatural synonyms homotypic with S. cymbalarioides Nuttall var. cymbalarioides.
