Remarks
Gynura aurantiaca DC. (1838) exists. Bentham (pp. 437-438) described 4 Gynura species, viz., G. cernua, G. crepidioides, G. polycephala, and G. vitellina. Within his treatment of G. cernua, he (p. 437) mentioned: “As, moreover, the G. aurantiaca, described below, is intermediate in habit, as well as in the thickness of the florets, between Cremocephalum and Gynura …” Of the remaining 3 Gynura species, his remarks apply to G. vitellina. Therefore, his citation of G. aurantiaca is treated here as a typographical error for G. vitellina.
