Remarks
Reichenbach f. mentioned 3 different colors (reddish-mauve, purple & light blue) for the flower and spelled epithet as tricolor (non M. tricolor Rchb.f. 1850). According to L. Garay (Selbyana 7(1): 66. 1982), Reichenbach intended the epithet iricolor, but a typographical error transformed it to tricolor.
