Cervantes (pp. 3-4), the publishing author, stated that the Director (Martín Sessé y Lacasta) of the Flora Mexicana contibuted the new Jaropha species. McVaugh (Bol. Inst. Bot. Univ. Guadalajara 6(1): 79. 1998) discussed the type information.
