Although Roxburgh did not refer to the basionym (Lobelia taccada Gaertn. 1788) and did not provide a description for S. taccada, he cited a reference to an effectively published description and illustration (footnote no. 19): H. M. 4. t. 59 (= Rheede, Hort. Malab. 4: 121, t. 59. 1683). Gaertner also referred to Rheede. Therefore, S. taccada is validly published as a comb. nov. (St. Louis Code Art. 33.2 applies).
