Remarks
Nesom published “Erigeron foliosus Nutt. var. mendocinus (E. Greene) Nesom, comb, et stat. nov.” and cited the basionym as “Erigeron mendocinus E. Greene, Leafl. Bot. Obs. Crit. 2:9. 1909” (non Greene 1894). Since the cited basionym is a later homonym and can serve only as a replaced synonym, it is construed here that Nesom inadvertently published the varietal name E. foliosus var. mendocinus as a nom. & stat. nov.
