Remarks
Berger (p. 337, index) mentioned that the new names were assigned * Sign; on 346, he listed Stenocactus without an * sign; he, however, assigned * sign to several of the Stenocactus species names. For Stenocactus, he referred to p. 244 on which he treated Echinocactus subgen. Stenocactus. It is construed here that the absence of an * sign for Stenocactus (p. 346) was an oversight and is a correctable error. Lectotype Species.: S. coptonogonus (Lemaire) A. Berger (Echinocactus coptonogonus Lemaire) (vide R. S. Byles, Natl. Cact. Succ. J. 11: 33. 1956).
