M. L. Green (in Prop. Brit. Bot. 100. 1929) designated S. ophioglossoides (Jacq.) Sw. (Epidendrum ophioglossoides Jacq.) as the LT.; Garay and Sweet rejected M.L. Green's lectotypification and proposed Humboldtia purpurea Ruiz & Pav. as the LT.; Garay's proposal, however, was not recommended (see Taxon 32. 282. 1983).
