Status: nom. inval. Provisional name [Protologue (translated): There is also a specimen in fruit that I would like to include here, from the Herbarium of Klenze in Darmstadt that was collected by Goehring in Japan. This specimen has, compared to the Bhutan specimens, noticeably small … the leaves are lanceolate, narrow, not encompassing the stem … Klenze regarded this plant as undescribed and named it P. japonica. In any case, the Bhutan and Japan plants should be analyzed when in flower to be certain.
