Remarks
Simmons inadvertently made the comb. nov. S. hirculus var. propinqua; he erred in ascribing the comb. nov. to R. Brown (in Chlor. Melvill. 15. 1823); Brown reduced B. propinqua merely to a variety (as S. hirculus var. B(eta)), but did not assign a varietal epithet. Simmons referred to S. hirculus var. uniflora Sternb. (1831), which is also based on the type S. propinqua R. Br.; therefore, S. hirculus var. propinqua is incorrect when published.
