Eponymy: Dedicamos esta especie al Dr. Dárdano de Andrade-Lima, estudioso de la flora nordestina, quien nos acompañó durante la búsqueda del material que designamos como tipo. The honoree's name Dardano seems to have been implicitly Latinized to Dardanus, and therefore, the published epithet dardani is accepted here
