Nomenclatural Notes
Status: nom. inval. Although W. Stone made a reference to Small (cf. Small, Southern Flora, p. 1090 = U. radiata Small, Fl. S.E. U.S. 1090. 1903), he did not accept the varietal name: Protologue: Some of our specimens, probably all from the Pine Barrens, are referable, apparently, to var. radiata, but the characters are so unsatisfactory that it (var. radiata) seems to be based upon merely upon small, less-robust specimens.
