Protologue: 'There is a plant at Kew of D. madagascariensis 15 feet high, measuring to the top of the leaves which are over 10 feet long ... not unlike the leaves of Cocos plumosa. The seeds are peg-top-shaped, half an inch long, and covered with a coat of brown fibre ; internally they are milk-white. Seedling leaves split ... D. madagascariensis, Hort.
