A native of mountain woods, near springs and rivulets, in the north-west of North America [raised from seeds in the Garden of the Horticultural Society in 1827]

The publishing author Lindley ascribed the name Chelone nemorosa to Douglas and also quoted a description from Douglas at the end of the text
