Remarks

A.Nelson intended to publish L. howardii as a new combination and base it on Oenothera howardii M.E.Jones (1893; a provisional name; invalid); thus, L. howardii was inadvertently published as a new species. Cronquist & al. (in Intermount. Fl. 3(A): 204. 1997) rejected Wagner's 1983 LT. designation and recognized M.E. Jones, s.n., Dugway, Utah. 30 May 1891; holotype at POM
