Remarks
Lindey, in the same year, referred to the same person both as Low and as Lowe. In April 1847, Vanda lowii, as Vanda Lowei, Mr. Low's Vanda, where it is clear he refers to Hugh Low, Jr. In Nov 1847, Cypripedium lowii, as Mr. Lowe's Lady Slipper (Cypripedium lowei..., where he use Lowe for both father and son. In both cases he cited Mr. Low/Lowe of Clapton, which doubtless refers Hugh Low or Hugh Low, Jr. of the Clapton Nursery, who at the time used the spelling Low (e.g., Kew Director's Correspondence).
