nom. et orth. cons. vs CANAVALI Adanson (1763) (nom. rej.) (ref. I.C.B.N. (1983) No. 3891). Orthography corrected by A.P. de Candolle, Prodr. 2 (mid Nov. 1825) 403 which is the reference given for the conservation of the genus in the I.C.B.N. - however, although de Candolle's orthography is conserved, the name should be given without change of author i.e. Adanson. See, however, the paper by P.G.Parkinson, Taxon 36 (1987) 81-83 where it is stated that Adanson's names are invalid as he followed a mononomial form of nomenclature, and that consequently conservation is unnecessary.
