Reference to the basionym indirect. On p. 718, Don mentioned that he proposed ... a new division of the genus Scabiosa, or subgenus to which we have affixed the old appellation of Asterocephalus. This division will include part only of the Asterocephali of Lagasca (Gen. Sp. Pl. 8. 1816). Lagasca used Asterocephalus Vaill. (1722), which was indirectly used by Zinn (via Haller).
