Status: nom. inval. nom. nud. Michaux (1803) published Ampelopsis bipinnata, A. cordata, and A. quinquefolia. Rafinesque accounted for A. bipinnata and A. quinquefolia, but seems to have renamed A. cordata as “A. cordifolia”; however, he merely mentioned “A. cordifolia of North America” and did not provide a description/diagnosis or associate “A. cordifolia” with Michaux
